Minutes
away from the ski-slopes and the bustle of a ski-town, it
offers you absolute privacy, stillness, and the serenity of
living in the surrounding embrace of the High Sierra.
The home
is built of Montana hand-peeled logs, Swedish cope, inside
and out (There is almost no dry-wall). Interiors feature wide
plank red fir floors, stone, Walnut doors and Rocky Mountain
hardware fixtures. Every giant window affords breath-taking
views of the surrounding mountains and Mammoth Rock. The stone
terrace at the rear of the house merges into a back yard that
becomes Forest Service land. Cross country ski and snowshoe
into the forest right off the terrace and merge with the groomed
trails at Twin Lakes. Enjoy sunrise and sunset on the mountain
in the stillness of the wilderness (but just minutes from
ski lifts, lodges, and downtown).
Double-story
windows facing the mountains usher mountain light into the
living room from dawn to sunset. Cozy couch and armchairs,
wood-burning AND HEATING stone fireplace, sound system with
Klipsch speakers
In the
dining room, the cherry table built for the owner by a master
Japanese craftsman seats fourteen.
The adjoining
gourmet kitchen is large, light, richly equipped with everything
you will need. The round table in the center of the room is
perfect for snacks and informal meals en famille. Features
six-burner Dacor stove with convection oven; Bosch jet-dry
dishwasher; GE Monogram built-in refrigerator/freezer; custom
cupboards and cabinets.
The Master
Bedroom features a California King bed, inviting sofa, and
gorgeous views of the mountains out the large windows. Cable
TV, DVD and VHS players, built-in reading lights above the
bed. Walnut French door opens on the stone terrace at the
rear of the house.
The Master
Suite includes double walk-in closets and chests of drawers,
and a large, elegantly appointed private bathroom: double
sinks in tumbled marble counters and a gorgeous tumbled marble
shower and steam sauna with double shower heads.
The three
additional bedrooms and the loft are on the second floor.
The first, a charming room all in blue, has a Queen bed, walk-in
closet, private bath with shower and stone counters, and cable
TV.
The second
bedroom has a queen bed, a comfortable couch, and a writing
table in front of a huge window with a panoramic view of Mammoth
Rock, unobstructed privacy. The adjacent full bathroom has
a shower and tub and stone counters. The third bedroom has
a Queen bed and cable TV.
The loft
(overlooking the living room) is the perfect place to relax
with a book (and perhaps a drink?) at the end of a day in
the snow. Comfortable chairs and couches and, as everywhere,
panoramic views out the double-story windows of the Sierra
wilderness and Mammoth Rock.
Downstairs
(stone floors), you will find: a mud-room area accessed through
the garage, a laundry room equipped with Maytag Neptune washer
and dryer and sink (plus utility cabinet), and a very cozy
entertainment/game room with plenty of games: two couches
