Nearby activities include swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, windsurfing, bike riding, fishing, boating, and shopping. Nearby attractions include downtown Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Knottt's Berry Farm, Disneyland, the Pike in Long Beach, the Long Beach Aquarium, Santa Catalina Island, multiple malls and shopping centers, and numerous restaurants, bars, boutiques, and convenience stores (all within 30 miles).

Sunset Beach has excellent steak and seafood restaurants, such as Captain Jack's and Harpoon Harry's, and plenty of cafes in the area surrounding the property (including the always open Shore House Cafe within walking distance.) There are many stores and boutiques on Pacific Coast Highway and in the Peter's Landing complex. Sunset Beach also has numerous bars and pubs that may be reached by foot or by a quick drive from the property. Nearby Huntington Beach and Seal Beach also have many stores, restaurants, and each have an active nightlife (2-4 miles).
